How to Set Up OpenEmu on Mac with USB Controllers

A Mac (macOS 10.14.4 or later), a USB retro controller, and OpenEmu (free download).
Step-by-Step Setup
- Download OpenEmu from openemu.org
- Drag OpenEmu to your Applications folder and open it
- Plug your USB controller into your Mac (use a USB-C adapter if needed)
- OpenEmu auto-detects USB controllers immediately
- Go to Preferences > Controls to verify or remap buttons
- Add your game files by dragging them into the OpenEmu window
- Click any game in your library to start playing
Tips
OpenEmu organizes your games by console automatically, so your library stays clean. It also supports save states, screenshots, and controller profiles for different controllers. If you have both a SNES and N64 controller, OpenEmu will remember the mapping for each one.
