How to Set Up FCEUX with a USB NES Controller
FCEUX is the go-to NES emulator. Simple, reliable, and runs every NES game. Your USB NES controller works with it out of the box - just plug in and configure.
What You Need
A Windows PC, a USB NES controller, and FCEUX (free download).
Step-by-Step Setup
- Download FCEUX from fceux.com
- Extract and open FCEUX
- Plug your USB NES controller into any USB port
- Go to Config > Input
- Click Configure for Port 1
- Press each button on your controller when prompted to map the inputs
- Load your NES game (File > Open ROM) and start playing
Tips
The NES only had two main buttons (A and B) plus Start and Select, so mapping is quick. FCEUX also supports save states - press F5 to save and F7 to load at any time.
